Marine Services
King Abdullah Port marine services are provided by Specialized Marine Services Company (SMS), a joint venture company between the Ports Development Company (PDC) and National Port Services (NPS).
The following marine services are available:

Towage
King Abdullah Port provides state of the art towage services via a fleet of ASD tugs, ranging from 85t – 47t BP. Details and specifications of each tug, which can be downloaded in stand-alone documents.

Bunkering
Although the provision of bunkers in the port will be made available in the future, at present this service is unavailable. Document details will be provided in the future.

Underwater Inspection
SMS, the providers of marine services in King Abdullah Port, are able to offer ship owners and operators an underwater inspection service using trained and qualified personnel as well as the latest available underwater inspection equipment.

Survey and Inspection
Survey, inspection, and investigation services are available at King Abdullah Port by qualified marine personnel, upon request.

Container Terminal
Capacity: 25,000,000 TEU

With awareness of the speed at which vessels are growing in size and the continuous development of mega ships which create challenges in respect to the capacity of container terminals, and to cater to cater to the needs of an evolving industry, King Abdullah Port is developing container terminals with an 18 meter depth that feature the largest cranes in the world, with a span of 25 TEUs, and a capacity of 65 tons.
These superstructures, backed up with adequate reefer container storage depending on a self-reliant power supply, in addition to the berths depth and massive storage yards have contributed to efficiently handling ultra-mega vessels with a capacity of over 23,500 TEUs.
A value added, alongside those features is that King Abdullah Port uses the latest technology through a Port Community System (PCS) and a Smart Gate System, which together enhance efficiency, and provide clients with the best logistics industry solutions that positively contribute to economic growth.
Ro/Ro Terminal

RO/RO shipping holds a substantial share of importance among numerous shipping services, as it meets the basic needs ranging from daily transportation, various industries, and finally to mega construction projects.
With this ever-growing demand for Ro/Ro services, King Abdullah Port RO/RO Terminal was designed to provide a state of the art brand-new hub for importing vehicles and wheeled equipment and other roll-on/roll-off (RO/RO) shipments.
The Ro/Ro terminal provides advanced services to the automotive sector, including importing, exporting and reshipping cars to markets and ports in neighboring countries, in addition to other commercial and industrial vehicles such as tractors, trucks and heavy wheeled equipment that are used in the implementation of mega projects. It contributes to supporting the economy and providing excellent job opportunities, as well as strengthening partnerships with specialized international companies.
In order to reduce the rate of accidents and provide the necessary logistical services for this type of cargo, a large storage yard adjacent to the Ro/Ro has been established.

King Abdullah Port has a prominent role in fulfilling the Kingdom’s needs by raising its level of readiness to receive various types of strategic and developmental goods, in order to ensure meeting all consumers ’needs in the Kingdom, Therefore, King Abdullah Port contributes to the Kingdom’s food security while exploiting its exceptional capabilities in handling bulk foodstuffs, as well as in supporting the industrial renaissance by importing the largest equipment that needs accurate handling methods and advanced equipment, and by facilitating the export process from the Kingdom by achieving handling rates that exceed the domestic rate of solid bulk cargo.
King Abdullah Port is devoted to providing such industries with the most advanced means through streamlined and effective operations to ensure cost effective handling solutions for consumers in order to facilitate and expedite the import of building materials, agricultural food and other.
To that end, the Bulk, Agri Bulk & General Cargo berths will be connected to the Processes and Services Zone (PSZ) via conveyer belts and pipe lines. The facility will be ideal for industries importing raw material and requiring transfer by automated means. The terminal will be served by a dedicated service gate.
King Abdullah Port will handle General and Project Cargo through mobile cranes with high capacity load, operated by vastly talented personnel.

Smart Gate System
Integration
The Smart Gate System is integrated with the Port Community System and the Terminal Gate Systems to improve the operational efficiency within the Port.
It is also integrated with security and operational processes, creating a more efficient interface between King Abdullah Port gate operations and government bodies such as Customs and Coast Guard.
Automation
The Smart Gate System automates security functions, authenticating the identity of the driver, vehicle and cargo.
This automation of operational functions reduces or eliminates the need for human intervention.
Control
The Smart Gate System significantly reduces the time to handle trucks at the Port gate and speeds up turn around time in the Port.
It reduces the volume of traffic inside the Port by only allowing in trucks that have an appointment.
It also helps the Terminal Operator to improve productivity by preparing containers for delivery based on appointments.
Railway Zone
- King Abdullah Port plans to have a dedicated Multi-modal (Rail) Terminal adjacent to the port.
- The Multimodal Terminal will span over 1 Million sqm with annual handling capacity of 10 Million TEUs.
